It all started with a passion for plants.
Jeff and Nique were working independently and continued to run into each other at a local garden center. They shared their joy of container design with each other and decided to work together and evolve as partners.
The next natural step seemed to be to open a small shop, catering to indoor plants, and to share their love of plants. That is why they created Petals.
Their passion and love of plants comes through in both the shop and their work. Ina Garten was never a chef, but her passion for food and the excitement for a new adventure made her the Barefoot Contessa!
Now for the real dirt...
Jeff Wallitsch was born and raised in his family’s nursery, started by his grandparents in Louisville. His background is in Horticulture and Elementary Education. A lover of the Louisville food scene, Jeff also enjoys cooking all of Ina Garten's recipes for his blended family and has developed a loving tolerance for his business partner, Nique.
Nique Freese grew up in a family of gardeners, which oddly enough, she never enjoyed as a child. After getting a degree in accounting, she quickly discovered she preferred being outside surrounded by plants and color. Nique loves spending time with her husband, kids, grandkids, friends, her two pugs, and a rescue dog.
Marcia Ross joined the Petals team in 2021. She is an artist and mother of two. She grew up in northern Pennsylvania and spent most of her twenties in NYC where she met her husband who swept her off her feet and to his hometown of Louisville.
In her free time she loves hiking with her family, strolling through museums and live music.
Carey Cullins is a wife and mother of two wonderful boys. She enjoys cheering on her boys in football, basketball, and on stage at their orchestra concerts. When Carey isn't running around, you can find her working in the yard with her dog Murphy close by.
Carey's love of gardening and working in the yard come naturally as her grandmother was an avid gardener and her mom still is. Carey says being outside with her hands in the dirt reminds her of her childhood and is very therapeutic. It's amazing how fresh flowers from the garden or a beautiful plant can completely bring a room to life!
